Xolani Health — Securing and Optimizing AI-Driven Healthcare
How Silicon Overdrive helped Xolani Health, a Nigerian-based AI health company, assess three AWS workloads using the AWS Well-Architected Framework.
Welcome to Silicon Overdrive!
Victus Global Botswana is a non-profit organization (NPO) led by Botswana women to transform lives through health and economic empowerment.
The NPO is committed to improving and strengthening access to healthcare services through training, research, and mentorship, as well as driving economic development through capacity building, market linkages, and investment with a specific focus on the low-income population and women and youth.
To maximize its impact and reach, Victus Global Botswana sought to leverage cloud technology, particularly AWS, to enhance the security and scalability of its operations.
Victus Global Botswana was confronted with a critical infrastructure challenge and thus needed the assistance of Silicon Overdrive, an AWS Advanced Partner. Their primary workload, crucial to their initiatives, was traditionally hosted on-premises. However, this setup was not conducive to their evolving needs, particularly regarding availability, security, and scalability.
The organization critically needed the high availability of its systems and thus recognized the need for a solution that would ensure business continuity even in the face of disruptions.
Silicon Overdrive leveraged its extensive technical expertise to assist Victus Global Botswana with the planned migration, best practice architecture, and security safeguard implementation for migration to the AWS Cloud.
Silicon Overdrive first set up a private network that ensured the confidentiality and security of their data.
Further, the Silicon Overdrive AWS team implemented Disaster recovery capabilities across multiple AWS Availability Zones (AZs). This approach ensured that even during a data center failure or other unforeseen disruptions, Victus Global Botswana’s critical workloads would remain available.
They also introduced autoscaling capabilities, enabling Victus Global Botswana to adapt the number of resources in real-time based on fluctuations in demand. This automated process guaranteed the non-profit organization’s ability to effectively allocate resources and uphold peak performance without the need for manual intervention.
For security enhancements, Silicon Overdrive implemented a comprehensive strategy for securing their workloads.
This approach involved the implementation of private subnets, the integration of CloudFront and a Web Application Firewall (WAF), and CloudTrail and AWS Config to establish robust monitoring and alerting.
Through collaboration with Silicon Overdrive, Victus Global Botswana successfully migrated from on-premises hosting to AWS, where it is currently running in a scalable, highly available, secure, and compliant environment.
The Victus Global Botswana team also understands the importance of following AWS Best Practice guidelines to ensure better security in their workloads.
As Victus Global Botswana continues transforming lives through health and economic empowerment, AWS provides a resilient and cost-effective platform.
Balladiah Kizito, Senior Data Manager at Victus Global Botswana, said, “All staff at Overdrive were very polite, understanding and efficient. Every aspect of the contract was discussed and understood by both parties, any clarifications needed were dealt with. I’m very happy with the result.”
