How to Create a Mailchimp Account From Scratch

Step 1: Create a Free Account

Before you can begin creating sign up forms for your website, you need to sign up and create your account.

Click on the link to open the Mailchimp signup page: https://mailchimp.com/signup/

To get started, you need to provide basic information like your email (either a personal or business email), a unique username (this can be your company’s name) and a strong password.

Once you’ve added your info to all the fields, click on Sign Up.

Step 2: Activate Your Account

You will receive an account activation email from Mailchimp, which will allow you to complete the account setup process.

Keep in Mind

The time it takes to receive the activation email can vary. Check your spam folder if you haven’t received anything.

After clicking on Activate Account, you’ll be redirected to the Mailchimp site where the site will check to confirm you’re human.

To move forward, click on I’m Not A Robot.

Step 3: Choose a Plan

After activating your account, you will be directed to the page below where you must choose a plan. To get started, choose the Free plan. Later you can upgrade to a different plan when you have grown your subscriber list.

Once you have selected the Free plan, click on Complete.

How to Set Up Your Mailchimp Account for Your Business

Now that you’ve created your Mailchimp account from scratch, it’s time to set up your account with details relating to your business.

Step 1: Add Your Name and Surname

After adding your name and surname, click Continue.

Step 2: Add Your Business Name and URL

Next, add the name of your business and your website’s URL (if you have one).

Once done, click Continue.

Step 3: Add Your Address

In order to check that your emails comply with international anti-spam laws, Mailchimp requires the physical address of your business.

Step 4: Add Contacts

If you already have contacts, like people who have signed up for marketing emails from your business, you can add them here. Otherwise, select no.

If you select Yes, you must select a size.

If you select No, Mailchimp will help you find contacts with landing pages and ads.

Step 5: What You Offer

You can select what you offer people signing up to your newsletter. Options include Services, Physical Goods, Technology or Software, Original Content, or Other (you can manually add a service).
