PrivIQ had a requirement to host a dedicated environment for PrivIQ SA, making use of PrivIQ’s Data Privacy Compliance services in the AWS Cape Town region to meet PrivIQ SA’s data localization requirements.
In response to this requirement, PrivIQ engaged Silicon Overdrive, an AWS Advanced Partner, to facilitate the seamless deployment of their applications and workloads to the AWS Cape Town region.
Silicon Overdrive replicated the AWS environment to a new dedicated AWS account in the AWS Cape Town region for PrivIQ SA. We architected the environment to be highly secure, available, scalable and compliant.
We leveraged several AWS managed and serverless services to address PrivIQ SA’ challenges, including Auto Scaling with AWS Fargate, Amazon Aurora, and Amazon Cognito.
Silicon Overdrive implemented AWS Fargate containers in an HA (High Availability) configuration to ensure availability and continuity of PrivIQ SA’s applications and services. High Availability systems play a crucial role in maintaining continuous functionality, as technology and networks can encounter disruptions or server errors from time to time.
By distributing the containers across multiple Availability Zones, PrivIQ’s solution can efficiently route traffic and workload to healthy instances, minimizing downtime and ensuring uninterrupted service availability.
Silicon Overdrive deployed Amazon Aurora, a powerful, fully managed database service that offered high availability, scalability, and enhanced performance. Amazon Aurora also provides various security features, including network isolation, encryption at rest, and encryption in transit.
To simplify user authentication and authorization, Silicon Overdrive implemented Amazon Cognito. This service allows PrivIQ customers to manage end-user identities, create authentication flows, and control access to their application efficiently.
In addition, Silicon Overdrive deployed AWS Transit Gateway, an essential tool for improving security in an AWS environment by providing centralized network management, control, and monitoring. This prevents users from directly accessing AWS accounts, supporting best practice security measures.
Other services are utilized to improve the security and compliance of the environment, such as Web Application Firewall (WAF) to reduce the number of attacks and vulnerabilities. Amazon GuardDuty to monitor AWS account and services vulnerabilities; Amazon CloudWatch for alerting, monitoring, and logging purposes; AWS CloudTrail for detailed event logging and monitoring for your AWS resources and services.
Silicon Overdrive successfully migrated the workload for PrivIQ SA to the Cape Town region within three weeks, where it is currently running in a highly available and secure, scalable, compliant environment. PrivIQ’s solution now meets PrivIQ SA’s data localization, security and availability requirements.
