Botlhale AI Solutions – AWS Well-Architected Framework Review

About the Customer

Botlhale AI Solutions is a tech startup committed to breaking language barriers in digital services. While speech-based human-computer interaction systems and Natural Language Processing (NPL) tools are popular globally, they often overlook the African languages. Botlhale AI Solutions aims to bridge this gap by empowering African language speakers with these technologies.

The Challenge

As a startup in the early development phases, the customer had deployed multiple workloads: A conversational AI chatbot workload, an NLP platform workload, an API gateway and Lambda workloads for processing requests.

Botlhale AI Solutions approached Silicon Overdrive to conduct Well-Architected Framework Reviews (WAFR) on its workloads, focusing on Cost Optimization.

The Solution

Silicon Overdrive conducted multiple WAFRs and, based on the findings, implemented cost-saving and security-focused remediations.

Silicon Overdrive conducted a detailed cost optimization assessment, focusing on AWS resource utilization, spending patterns, and opportunities for cost savings. Over-provisioned resources were identified and right-sized according to actual usage patterns based on metrics.

This optimization strategy resulted in resource allocation more closely aligned with workload requirements.

Silicon Overdrive enhanced overall security by moving all EC2 workloads to private subnets and implementing an AWS Web Application Firewall (AWS WAF), Amazon CloudWatch, and AWS CloudTrail.

These measures offer enhanced security, real-time monitoring, and compliance tracking.

The Outcome

Silicon Overdrive significantly reduced the customer’s AWS spending and improved its overall workload security.

Botlhale AI Solutions now operates in a more secure and cost-effective environment and can confidently continue integrating African languages into AI technology.

This project underscored the importance of proper security measures and cost optimization for startups. It also highlighted the value of professional guidance for companies new to the cloud and AWS. Silicon Overdrive’s assistance ensured Botlhale AI Solutions could confidently navigate its AWS workloads, enhancing security and optimizing costs.
