Microsoft Case Study: The Sagitta Group Migration to SharePoint Online

About the Customer

Based in Newlands, Cape Town, the Sagitta Group is a private equity company that uses its diverse skill sets and innovative deal-making approach to create and extend growth opportunities and long-term shared value for its partners, clients, and themselves.

The Challenge

The Sagitta Group wanted to move away from a physical office environment and adopt a new remote working structure for their employees. This required a review of their current IT environment to ensure their hardware infrastructure aligned with their new progressive approach.

In order to begin with its ‘work-remote strategy’, the group needed to move its company data from physical servers to SharePoint Online.

The Solution

Silicon Overdrive investigated The Sagitta Group’s IT environment and completed a full assessment of their infrastructure to understand the hardware and software requirements.

The new environment was set up on Microsoft 365, then migrated their data to the new modern SharePoint sites to allow Sagitta Group’s new remote work setup.

Silicon Overdrive configured sharing and retention policies and set up Primary and Secondary recycle bins. This further provided a safety net for when employees delete items from the intranet.

The team implemented the principle of least privilege to assign members the minimum permission required to complete their tasks on the SharePoint sites to further enhance and maintain a secure environment.

User devices were configured to sync to Microsoft OneDrive for Business with SharePoint libraries, allowing users to access files directly in File Explorer, even when they are offline.

With OneDrive, The Sagitta Group’s staff can access their files at any time, free up device storage, securely store files, and more.

The Outcome

After migrating to SharePoint Online, The Sagitta Group has a secure platform where remote employees can access, share, edit, and upload files in a central environment. Tenant-level policies and settings were applied across the sites to configure the environment to meet compliance standards.

The Sagitta Group no longer needed its physical servers, as all its data was stored on SharePoint and uploaded to the cloud.

With their new Microsoft SharePoint setup, The Sagitta Group’s team can easily find and share company resources while seamlessly collaborating across the organisation.
