About the Customer

Healthware Medical Technology delivers an all-in-one software solution for managing the clinical, administrative, and financial needs of care homes and hospitals. Its intuitive design and integrated features reduce data entry, minimize errors, and support secure, paperless patient records through a centralized Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Seamless integration across departments enables better care coordination, helping facilities deliver higher-quality care more efficiently and cost-effectively.

The Challenge

Healthware runs workloads in AWS, but the architecture was not fully optimized for scalability, and the existing setup limited the organization’s ability to onboard new businesses quickly. At the same time, any improvements need to maintain the same level of spend or reduce costs where possible. Healthware therefore requires a more modern and scalable cloud environment that remains cost-effective while supporting continued growth.

The Solution

Silicon Overdrive is working closely with Healthware to redesign and enhance their AWS environment, aligning it with the Security, Scalability, and Cost Optimization pillars of the AWS Well-Architected Framework. Together, the teams are implementing a best-practice AWS architecture to improve reliability and operational efficiency, while introducing a containerized deployment model to modernize the application. This approach enables faster releases, greater consistency across environments, and improved scalability as the platform continues to evolve.

To protect the client-facing healthcare platform, AWS Web Application Firewall (WAF) is deployed to safeguard against common web exploits and malicious traffic, significantly strengthening the application’s security posture.

Amazon GuardDuty is configured to provide continuous threat detection and monitoring, allowing Healthware to identify and respond to potential security risks in real time. Amazon CloudFront sits in front of the application to enhance performance by reducing latency for end users, while also adding an additional layer of protection when combined with WAF.

Throughout the engagement, cost efficiency remains a priority. The environment is continuously optimized to deliver improved security, performance, and scalability while maintaining or reducing overall spend. This approach is providing Healthware with a secure, resilient, and future-ready foundation to support ongoing growth and rapid onboarding of new clients.

This collaboration is delivering both immediate improvements and long-term value for Healthware, strengthening the platform and supporting sustained growth.

Healthware now operates within a significantly more secure AWS environment aligned with AWS best practices, reducing risk to sensitive healthcare data and strengthening protection for its client-facing application.
